About Tradecraft

Modern kitchen and living area with wood accents, black fireplace, sliding glass doors leading to outdoor seating, island with bar stools, open shelving with decor, and large windows showing trees outside.

Tradecraft Construction was built around a straightforward idea. Construction should be organized, clearly communicated, and executed with consistency from start to finish.

Many construction issues don’t stem from the work itself. They come from missed calls, unclear expectations, and a lack of follow-through. Tradecraft takes a different approach by staying accountable to what is said, showing up when scheduled, and keeping communication direct and consistent throughout the project.

From initial planning and permitting to final construction and closeout, every phase is managed with attention to detail and coordination across trades. Clients are not left guessing what happens next or dealing with unnecessary delays caused by misalignment.

The goal is simple. Do the work right, respect people’s time, and deliver a finished project that holds up over time, especially in the demanding conditions of the Tahoe region.

Meet James

James grew up in St. Catharines, Ontario, between Niagara Falls and Toronto, where he spent his early years working on a farm. That experience built a strong work ethic and a practical, hands-on approach that still carries through his work today.

He later moved to Toronto to study robotics engineering, but ultimately transitioned into construction, where the work was more tangible and aligned with how he preferred to operate. In 2000, he relocated to Kelowna, British Columbia, continuing to build experience across a wide range of residential projects.

In 2009, James moved to California. After working with Milgard Windows and Doors, he returned fully to construction following the recession, bringing with him a deep understanding of building systems, materials, and long-term performance.

Today, that experience shows up in how Tradecraft approaches every project. The focus is on doing things correctly, solving problems early, and maintaining a high level of accountability from start to finish.
